How to Request References


Step 1: Decide HOW to ask

Our pre-written request letters make it easy to ask anyone for a reference, even people you haven't spoken with in a long time or are nervous about asking.

 

Request References. Step 1: Select a request letter or write your own.


Step 2: Decide WHOM to ask

Enter the names and email address of people you want to ask for a reference. Your request will be emailed to them with a link to where they can write the reference for you online. We notify you via email as soon as they write the reference.

 

Request, manage, share or write references.


Step 3: Decide which position to get references for

Select or enter the position (i.e., the job title and company) you were in when you worked with the people entered in Step 3. If you have already entered positions, a list of them will be displayed for you to choose from.

 

Step 3: Select the position for which you want to get references.


Step 4: Click the button

Click the "Send My Requests" button (shown in the screenshot below) and you're done!
