How to Accept or Decline a Reference

Step 1: We notify you

ReferenceVault gives you complete control of which references you accept or decline. We notify you via email when someone writes a new reference for you. See a screenshot of the notification email below.

Step 2: Decide whether to accept or decline the reference

Clicking the link in the email (shown above) takes you to the New References Management page where you can view pending references and choose whether to accept or decline them.

How to Show Your References or Keep Them Private


Step 1: Go to the Reference

Select or enter the position (that is, the job title and company) you were in when you worked with the people entered in Step 3. If you have already entered positions, a list of them will be displayed for you to choose from.

Step 2: Check or uncheck "Show"

At ReferenceVault.com you're in control, including which references to display in your personal ReferenceVault and which to keep private. To display a reference, check the "Show" box. To keep a reference private uncheck the "Show" box. It's that easy!
